"The towers represent something that is both the past and the future, its neither finished nor unfinished. The shape of the volume is a negative of the remaining space. Still the shape transcend beyond the actual size. The outline becomes blurred towards the sky. In this way the new structure doesn't compete with the existing tower, nor the city."
architecturePosted by Eirik Møller Jan 24, 2010 13:54 Investigating the relationship between switching between different spaces...
Final Product: The shape is in some way set. A possible function is put into the structure, proving it could take on a lot of programmes. The spaces changes and floating, though the imagined borders between them are yet precise. The Cast Modell: Only 10mm thick, and casted in one piece, it was a challenge creating the precast modell. The modell as it appears, is in 1:100, made of plaster enforced by a steel mesh. Knowing that casting all in one piece could be difficult, I had to invent a way to distrobute the plaster all arround in the enclosed casting shape. Creating pressure pipes used to pour the plaster into the modell, I was able to controll that all the parts filled up. The only problem, was that the pressure turned to strong, and the casting modell slightly fell appart. Duck tape was then the solution...
Generating spaces: Using simple models to investigate possible ways of switching between spaces, I was able to generate a whole lot of spatial connections. Below some of process is showed.
architecturePosted by Eirik Møller Dec 21, 2009 22:43 As a part of the themecourse "Architecture and film: Morphology of Body and Space III" held on the Oslo School of Architecture and Design by Rolf Gerstlauer , I made this video. The task was to make up a storyboard, then instantly capture it. I wanted to capture different conditions of the phenomena "reflections", and I went frenzy with my videocamera, riding a bike in the middle of Oslo.
The after effects is put on by hand, though there might be easier ways to do that.
architecturePosted by Eirik Møller Dec 19, 2009 16:40 ...and it is working. I even made it up in a dream, that I find surrealistic. Anyway, it operates diffrently due to lightness and darkness. It controls airflow between two inflatable structures which is supposed to be an abstraction of the architecture attached to the system. It was all made in a workshop, held at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, The School of Architecture (KARCH), organized by David Garcia. The topic for the workshop was "Animate".
architecturePosted by Eirik Møller Dec 08, 2009 16:08 The photos below are from a project made on KARCH, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, and was developed trough a workshop arranged by David Garcia.
The project focus on the energy produced on a surface while running on it, and has the purpose to inspire to activity and exploration of the roofscape. From streetlevel, the runner will be seen as a lightglimse.
